Meet the Doctors

Christopher Nannini, OD

Optometrist

Since opening Battle Born Eye Care in 2016, Dr. Chris Nannini has quickly become the premier contact lens and myopia care specialist in Northern Nevada. Fitting hundreds of specialty lenses over the years, he has developed a passion for improving the vision and lifestyle of his patients through contact lenses. His unique skill set includes fitting orthokeratology and multifocal contact lenses for controlling myopia as well as scleral contact lenses for patients with keratoconus, corneal transplant, dry eye disease, and corneal scarring. His residency training and subsequent time in a surgical center have prepared him for the complexities of advanced contact lens fitting and medical eye care. Dr. Chris also manages chronic eye conditions such as glaucoma and macular degeneration as well as acute conditions such as flashes and floaters, red eyes, eye pain, and foreign body removal.

Dr. Chris is a fourth-generation Northern Nevadan. He graduated from Reed High School and then obtained his degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nevada (Go Pack!). He graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2011 and then completed his residency at Northeastern State University where he cared for the citizens of the Cherokee Nation. During residency, he received extensive training with contact lenses, ocular disease, and ocular emergencies. He then brought his training back home where he worked for a surgery and referral center for 5 years, gaining extensive knowledge in all aspects of medical eye care.

Brittany Nannini, OD

Optometrist

Since founding Battle Born Eye Care in 2016, Dr. Brittany Nannini has been able to bring much-needed specialty services into our area. She is one of only thirty graduates of the Neurovisual Medicine Institute, training with Dr. Debby Feinberg to provide care for patients with binocular vision dysfunction. She is the only doctor in Nevada providing these services.

Brittany Nannini, OD grew up in the one-stoplight town of Lovelock, NV. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, and continued her education at Pacific University College of Optometry. After receiving her doctorate, Dr. Nannini worked for a year with a local optometry group and then moved to Oklahoma to pursue a residency in Family Practice Optometry at Northeastern State University. Following residency, Dr. Nannini began working at Reno-Sparks Tribal Health Center.

Mia Barron, OD

Optometrist

Dr. Barron has worked in the Carson City, Minden and Lake Tahoe area since 2012. By working in a local surgery and referral center for three years, she gained exposure and training in strabismus, retinal diseases and glaucoma. Dr. Barron achieved glaucoma certification in 2016. She joins Battle Born Eye Care with years of experience performing accurate diagnosis and treatment of refractive, visual efficiency and disease disorders. Dr. Barron is skillful in complicated refractions and maximizing vision in traditional contact lenses.

Dr. Mia Barron grew up in San Diego, California. She worked in the biotechnology, laboratory science and tutoring industries before deciding to go back to graduate school. She completed her Bachelor of Science in General Biology with Honors from University of California, San Diego. Dr. Barron first met the Nanninis while completing her doctorate at Pacific University College of Optometry.

Dr. Barron has volunteered with Amigos Eyecare, providing free eye exams to the underprivileged in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. She also volunteered at the Southwest Washington Free eye clinic. She previously served as Society President for the Nevada Optometric Association.

When she is away from the office, Dr. Barron loves spending time with her husband and young son, Elijah. She enjoys the beauty of the surrounding desert and mountains. Her personal interests include gardening and botany, hiking, biking, poetry and target shooting. Dr. Barron looks forward to meeting and serving the people of the south Reno!
